As part of the Dark Skies Festival in the North York Moors we’re hosting a Dark Skies evening at the Rugged Woods just outside of Helmsley.
On a clear night, our rural location offers perfect stargazing potential, free of light pollution and in the middle of quiet countryside. For one night only, we invite you to bring a chair, blanket, flask of something warm and your stargazing equipment. We’ll have a campfire roaring and our latest addition- the wood-fired oven will be in full swing.
As we’ve got the perfect location and you’re providing the stargazing equipment, come and join us completely free of charge. If you’d like a pizza (£7.50) let us know upon booking.
The event will take place on Saturday 22nd February 2020 from 5:30pm - 11:00pm. You will need to book so we know how many people to expect.

Do we really need to use as much lighting as we do right now? There are fewer and fewer places that can say that they are free of light polution and nowadays children are seeing less of the splendor and beauty of the night sky. As wons and cities grow so to do the amounts of lighting and so it becomes worse as years go by.
Here at the Rugged Woods we are looking to provide star gazing sessions huddled under a nice warm blanket with frequent trips into the lodge where we can get a nice warm cup of what we like.
Please get in touch if you would be interested in a night time meet up we would love to hear from you. email@example.com
