How to make Bannock and Recipes

We get a real kick from teaching people and especially kids how to make Bannock its a life skill that sometimes see's them going on to make other types of bread. We often hear back from people telling us about the way they make their Bannock and we have heard some really crazy ingredients.

We thought that it would be good to have a page where people can list the ingreients that they use. You can do one of two things, you can send in a list of your ingredients or you make a video show how you make it and we will place it on this page.

The History of Bannock

Bannock is a type of fry bread which originates from Scotland but was eventually adapoted by the indigenous peoples of Canada, particularly The Metis of Western Canada. Bannock stems from the Gaelic word Bannach, which means "morsel".

The scots cooked it in a griddle called a bannock stone which they placed on the floor in front of a fire. It is worth noting that this is one explanation and we will make sure that we update any historical references that we think are legitimate.
